Hybrid polymer composite materials

Abstract

In this study, a macro-scale modeling technique was adopted for simulation of the behavior of hybrid composites subjected to impact loading using the finite element method. The hybrid composite laminates were made from glass and carbon fibers. The Lambert–Jonas empirical model was used to obtain the ballistic limit using the least square method. The results of numerical simulations were validated against the published experimental results. Good agreement was observed between the simulated and experimental results with the average percentage difference of 3.22%.
