Abstract

Extract: The zinc and copper content of various seeds and nuts were determined by wet digestion and atomic absorption spectrophotometry. These foods were found to contain high concentrations of both zinc and copper. Seeds and nuts can provide a considerable portion of the RDA for both zinc and copper, and this emphasizes the nutritional value of such foods. In particular, their inclusion in the diet of vegetarians is important for adequate zinc and copper nutriture.
