Abstract

Successful life participation after leaving a sex trafficking situation is complex and challenging for a person who has been trafficked. The purpose of this report is to outline the occupational therapy process for survivors of human trafficking, including review of theoretical frameworks and evidence guiding intervention and a discussion of the outcomes of intervention. After 12 weeks of occupational therapy intervention, all clients in this study reported an overall improvement in performance and satisfaction in their prioritized areas of occupation. There was a significant difference in the evaluation and reevaluation scores of performance and satisfaction (p = .04).
