Summary Salmonella antigens were identified in Shigella strains. It can be stated that mutual antigens occur in the Salmonella, Escherichia-Aerobacter and Shigella groups; in other words, within the whole genus Bacterium. The presence of the VI, XIII complex in Hiss-Y strains should be remembered in the performance of agglutinative tests for diagnostic purposes.
