Musical instruments, fungal spores and hypersensitivity pneumonitis

Abstract

Musical instruments have been reported as the source of exposure in many cases of hypersensitivity pneumonitis. Thorough instrument cleaning is recommended to musicians; however, the optimum method for doing so is unknown. This case highlights that despite meticulous cleaning and care of instruments, fungal growth and exposure are still possible.
