Lower bound on the Hartree-Fock energy of the electron gas

Abstract

The validity of using a noninteracting Fermi gas as a reference state for calculations of the homogeneous electron gas is rigorously established. The study provides insights into the Hartree-Fock phase diagram of the homogeneous electron gas.
