Electron Correlation

Electron Correlation is a quantum-mechanical effect in many-electron systems that denotes the correlated motion of electrons arising from their mutual Coulomb repulsion beyond the independent-particle (mean-field) approximation, and which is responsible for the difference between the exact nonrelativistic electronic energy and its Hartree–Fock value.
