A comparative method via microwave and conventional calcification-roasting to extract vanadium and chromium from high chromium vanadium slag has been proposed. When leaching temperature and leaching time are 100 ºC and 120 min, the optimic leaching ratio of vanadium and chromium are 95.92%, 4.27% after microwave roasting and 84.96%, 2.15% after conventional roasting. The kinetics of vanadium in the first stage controlled by solid product layer diffusion and the second stage controlled by solid product layer diffusion and chemical reaction. The kinetic of chromium is controlled by solid product layer diffusion and chemical reaction.
