Analysis of failed discharge after ambulatory surgery: unanticipated admission

Abstract

Unanticipated admissions following day surgery occur mainly due to social/organisational and surgical reasons. However, medical and anaesthetic reasons also explain 15.86% of the unanticipated admissions.
