Abstract

Summary and Conclusions Very little can be said about the natural history of this curious rectal lesion. It appears to be a true neoplasm, probably arising from lymphatics normally present in the rectum. No histologically or clinically malignant variant (lymphangiosarcoma) has been reported. The length of time the tumor is present prior to removal and the rate of growth are unknown. In the present case it is not known whether or not the tumor was present at the time of the previous hemorrhoidectomy. The seventh case of rectal lymphangioma is reported. Adequate excision is recommended as the treatment of choice.
