Abstract

High T{sub c} superconducting oxides have been prepared by the amorphous citrate process. The resulting powders require less high temperature processing than standard techniques and lead to sintered compacts with over 90% density. Electrical resistivity and thermoelectric power were measured for La{sub 2}CuO{sub 4-y} with Ba and Sr-doping. The addition of dopants decreases the thermopower and there is the suggestion that strong correlations may be occurring at small dopant concentrations. Surface impedance measurements at 102 GHz have been used to determine the magnitude and temperature dependence of the gaps in the Ba-doped materials.
