Thin Strip Casting of Steel with a Twin Roll Caster - Correlation between Feeding System and Strip Quality

Abstract

In twin roll casting, the strip surface must be of good quality, as the improvement by further rolling is limited. The strip surface is formed close to the pool surface, and thus it is very sensitive to pool turbulences. Good knowledge of the turbulences must be available. In this paper the pool behaviour is studied in a water model, and correlations to twin roll cast strip and its defects are evaluated.
