Last year, the signal structure for the future GPS civil signal at L5 (1176.45 MHz) was developed. However, that development was limited to PRN code structure and signal modulation. Development of other signal characteristics was postponed. These other characteristics include PRN code selection, the definition of the navigation messages and some other signal specifications such as correlation loss, phase noise and the exact received signal power profiles. Recently, most of these characteristics have been developed and a total RTCA L5 Signal Specification has been developed, with some “To Be Determined” characteristics yet to be defined that depend upon space vehicle design. It is the purpose of this paper to present that signal specification.
