Atomic and Laser Spectroscopy

Abstract

The author is to be congratulated on producing a book that will surely come to be accepted as the standard introductory text on the subject of the interaction of atoms and radiation. For many years this place has been held by the book of A C G Mitchell and M W Zemansky, but the recent and explosive growth in this subject, especially since the development in 1970 of narrow bandwidth tunable dye lasers, has caused their treatment to appear increasingly inadequate and out of date, and thus the book by Alan Corney is a timely and also a very worthy successor.
