Compressors in Heat Pumps

Abstract

Heat pumps, together with increasingly strict rigidities in construction, are selected as a primary or secondary source of energy needed to heat or cool buildings, as well as in production of domestic hot water. This article describes the basic structural element of heat pump - compressor. The article discusses the function of heat pump compressor, presents the extent usage of different types of working machines depending on power. The authors portray various options of compressors construction, together with an indication of selected advantages and disadvantages. Moreover, the article shows the principle of compressor selection in heat pump and in the form of a table presents compressors operating properties.
