In article 1600156, convolution operations are performed on 2-bit coding metasurfaces to steer a radiation pattern to the desired directions with negligible distortion, and to make continuous beam scanning in the upper-half space, by Tie Jun Cui and co-workers. This universal coding scheme provides another degree of freedom in designing the radiation patterns using coding metasurfaces by using the convolution theorem and other signal processing techniques.
