A high-power millisecond pulse microwave reactor was designed and tested with the model microwave catalytic decomposition of methane. Methane was converted to C2 and C3 hydrocarbons with good selectivity and efficiency. The effects of the power and pulse envelopes of the incident Microwave radiation on the chemical conversion were examined.
