Direct communication between the right pulmonary artery and the left atrium. A case report and review of the literature.

Abstract

The case of a patient with direct communication between the right pulmonary artery and the left atrium is presented. Eighteen cases from the literature and our own case are reviewed with special emphasis on the anatomic and histologic findings and surgical treatment. Early intervention is recommended and results in complete cure.
