The Effect of Debate Training on Students Participating in the Bicentennial Youth Debates

Abstract

This study, utilizing a unique one-time-only field environment, investigated the transfer skills of BYD participants with previous forensics experience versus those with no previous experience. The study strongly confirms the ability of students with forensic experience to achieve comparatively high ratings in analysis, delivery, and organization in an activity far removed from the format of competitive school debate.
