In this note we point out that the control law for uncertain systems, which was introduced by W. Gao et al. in [1], does not guarantee existence of a quasi-sliding mode and does not satisfy the so-called reaching condition defined by the authors. We show that an additional inequality must hold in order to satisfy the condition. We also consider the control law presented in the same paper for the nominal system and we show that the region in the state space, within which the system's state remains in the steady-state is evaluated by the authors too conservatively.
