A vanadium based hydroxy-phosphate of the Tavorite-type structure LiVPO<sub>4</sub>OH was obtained for the first time, by a hydrothermal route. Li<sup>+</sup> and H<sup>+</sup> are extracted from the structure at the same equilibrium potential.
