Amiloride hydrochloride labeled with C 14 was given to 5 volunteers. Serum level peaked at 3 hours, and the half‐life was 6 hours. There was no evidence of metabolic transformation of amiloride. Approximately half the oral dose was recovered in the urine. Amiloride is cleared by tubular transport and should be used with caution in patients with renal insufficiency.
