A dose-response curve was obtained for the stimulation by phytohaemagglutinin of lymphocytes of twenty-five normal human adults. Increase in the lymphocyte content of the culture (50–90%) produced an overall reduction of response which still fell within the normal limits. The curve is shown to be valuable in the routine investigation of patients with suspected immune deficiency.
