Abstract

LV remodeling, which is commonly associated with extensive myocardial infarction, can be initiated by regional dysfunctional hibernating myocardium resulting from a severe coronary stenosis. Myocardial necrosis is not a prerequisite for LV remodeling in response to regional dysfunction.
