Objective The anti-influenza activity of Radix Isatidis extracts processed by different extractions was observed for the screening of anti-influenza active constituents. Methods Madin-Darby canine kidney cell line was inoculated with influenza virus type 1 PR8 strain(A/PR/8/34,H1N1).The anti-influenza activity of Radix Isatidis extracts processed by different extractions was evaluated according to cytopathic effect(CPE).Results At non-toxic concentration, one antiviral active constituent(S-03) was obtained from different extractives of Radix Isatidis.S-03 was the eluant eluted with pure water through the macroporous resin column, and its anti-viral selective index(SI) was 4.8 in vitro. Conclusion One antiviral constituent has been found in Radix Isatidis extracts.
