The contaminations make it difficult to isolate sooty blotch and flyspeck fungi from apple surface. In this research we used the technique to pick up the thallus directly from apple surface under a stereomicroscope. For each sample, 10-15 slant repeats were needed to insure at least two to three isolations could grow up. Compared with common methods repor- ted previously, this technique is of high efficiency and less contamination rate.
