ABSTRACT Whole testes of 13-day-old chick embryos grafted according to an original method into the extraembryonic coelom of 3-day-old recipients were next removed up to day 6. The temporary presence of a testis allowed the Müllerian ducts to retrogress, from day 8, in a high percentage of female hosts. It can be concluded that the graft secreted into the blood of the embryo enough ‘anti Müllerian hormone’ to provoke regression of ducts at least 2 days after its removal and that the reaction of ducts depends on the appearance of their sensitivity to this hormone.
