Haemorragic septicaemia(HS)caused byPasteurella multocida (P. multucida)is animportant disease of buffaloes causing heavy economic losses in Pakistan .Samples from 20HS suspected carca ssesof buffaloes wereprocessed and the recovered isolates were identifiedbycultural, morphological, biochemical and serologicaltests. All the isolates were alsoprocessed formouse pathogenicity test and antibiogramassay.Sixteenisolates were identified asPasteurella multocida.Serologically all isolates were associated with CarterNs sero group B. Maximum number of isolates were recovered fromsamples ofbone marrow, lungs and spleen. Alltheisolateswerefound pathogenic to mice. Antibiogram assayofall the fields isolates depicted thehighestsensitivity 87.5% for, ofloxacin, enrofloxacinand gentamicin, 81.25% fornorfloxacin andamikacin, 75% for kanamycin, 56.25% for tetracycline,25% for chloramphenicol, doxycyclineandvancomycin, erythromycinwhere assulfadiazine(12.5%)wasfoundleasteffective. No resistance was observed forciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, ofloxacin andnorfloxacinwhere asmaximum resistancewas observedagainsterythromycin andsulfadiazine(50%).It is conclude d that a
