Most of the microhaematocrit centrifuges (MCH) in Nigerian health institutions have ceased to function due to lack of spare parts and poor servicing. The author carried out a study using the angle-head centrifuge (AHC) for estimating packed cell volume. The efficiency of packing was identical for both the AHC and MHC with a similar short time for centrifugation.
