This paper describes methods and techniques for 3D modeling and visualization for stratified geological objects. Geological data usually are limited,at irregularly distributed points data, which require utilizing spatial interpolation to produce reasonable 3D geological models. For simple stratified objects,3D model can be produced by correctly arranging those well interpolated surfaces according to their spatial locations. Complex geological stratified objects include spatial variations of sedimentary facies and some physical/chemical properties, discontinuities caused by faults, erosions and folds. Three dimensional interpolation methods are required for these complex objects. The appropriate modeling and visualization methods are chosen for different phenomena. The key to produce correct 3D model is to incorporate expert knowledge and right geological interpretation in modeling and visualization procedure.
