The secretory cells of the digestive glands remain highly active during the entire period of prey digestion and absorption of nutrients. They appear to play a major role in gland activity. A model of the digestive gland's activity on stimulation is proposed. It is very similar to that suggested earlier for Dionaea muscipula. After the digestion and absorption cycle, destructive processes are initiated in the glands. These appear similar to those observed in the glands of the ageing, unstimulated leaf and are not associated with feeding.
