Abstract

Employees (N=592) in mental health organizations described their supervisors' supervisory behavior in terms of consideration, participation, initiating structure, and production emphasis. Very little evidence was found to support the supposition that male subordinates have differential supervisory role expectations for male and female supervisors. However, there was some support for this supposition among female subordinates.
