How Well Do Nurses Perform Blood Glucose Analyses at the Diabetic Clinic? An Assessment Using the Reflotron Analyser

The performance of nursing staff in the measurement of blood glucose concentrations of patients attending a diabetic outpatient clinic was assessed. The nurses used a Reflochek reflectance meter with BMR Reflochek glucose strips. The BCL Reflotron portable analyser was first assessed for accuracy by laboratory staff, and then used at the clinic to compare with the glucose results obtained by the nurses. The aim was to identify variables affecting their analyses
