A method was developed using 1-square-foot pans filled with oil and water for determining the trapping efficiency of light traps. The indicated efficiency ranged from 10 to 50% for bollworms, Heliothis zea (Boddie). and from 8 to 38% for cabbage loopers, Trichoplusia ni (Hübner). Results indicated that large numbers of insects attracted to the light trap were not caught.
