Ericaceous constituents: Seventeen triterpenoids isolated from the buds of Rhododendron macrocpalum.

Abstract

From the bursting buds of Rhododendron macrocepalum, four triterpenoid mono-ols (1, 4-6) and nine diols (7-10, 13-17) including four new compounds were isolated and characterized together with 2, 3 and 11, 12. The structures of two 2β, 3β-diols (motidiol and germanidiol) hitherto reported are revised to 2α, 3α-diols.
