In the isolated perfused rat liver the biological half-life for pork immunoassayable insulin was determined to be 17 min. The corresponding figures for beef-pork, rat pancreatic, and rat gut, immunoassayable glucagon were 19, 23, and 27 min, respectively. The data are in keeping with the liver, which is a major site for degradation of insulin and glucagon.
