Both pyruvic acid and glycerol have been isolated as metabolic products of T. rhod&9iernse by us. The mode of formation of the ethanol is less clear. SUMMARY 1. Products of the glucose metabolism in vitro by suspensions of T. rhode&ienae have been isolated and characterized. They were: succinic, pyruvic, lactic, acetic and formic acids, glycerol, ethanol and carbon dioxide.
