Abstract Platelets concentrated and stored in their own plasma at -15 C. up to 6 weeks were administered to severely ill, thrombocytopenic, bleeding children in whom hemostasis had not been attained by other measures. Eighteen of 29 infusions in 15 children appeared to result in transitory hemostasis. Transient elevation of the blood pressure and local vasoconstriction accompanied the administration of platelet material. No evidence of serious toxicity or thrombosis has been encountered.
