An unusual case of congenital multiple atresias of the small intestine produced by leiomyomatous hamartosis is described. Leiomyomatous hamartomas were also found in the liver and lungs. It is suggested that these proliferative lesions represent a primitive form of inflammatory reaction to injury occurring during early fetal life.
