High-Energy Proton Scattering and the Structure of Light Nuclei

Abstract

The elastic and total cross sections of 1-BeV protons on ${\mathrm{H}}^{2}$, ${\mathrm{He}}^{4}$, ${\mathrm{C}}^{12}$, and ${\mathrm{O}}^{16}$ are analyzed, in conjunction with the corresponding electron scattering measurements, on the basis of Glauber's high-energy approximation. This leads to information which cannot be obtained from the electron data alone.
