Of 29 double-contrast colon examinations performed on children, 17 revealed lymphoid hyperplasia which could not be correlated with the patient's symptoms, gastrointestinal bleeding, or polyps. Prominent lymphoid follicles in the submucosa are concluded to be not indicative of a specific disease process. Biopsy proof of the nature of nodular colon disease is essential before radical surgical or medical therapy is contemplated.
