The purpose of this research is to investigate physical properties of Jatropha oil for find new, clean and renewable source of lubricant oil. In this study examines the experimental result of anti-friction, anti-wear, flash temperature parameter (FTP) and viscosity index (VI) for Jatropha oil. The experiments are performed with standard test method ASTM D 4172 and using a four ball tribotester, CCD Camera, digital microscope and viscosity meter. This experiment was carried out in various temperatures, 55, 75, 95, 105 and 125 °C, load 392 N, speed 1200 rpm and in 60 minutes. All results of Jatropha oil were compared with hydraulic oil as mineral commercial oil with based lubricant to evaluate the lubricant ability of Jatropha oil. Results show that Jatropha oil had higher lubricant ability versus friction and wear than engine and hydraulic oil based- lubricant.
