Abstract

Despite the strictly benign nature of cystic teratoma, oncologic resection is mostly inevitable due to difficult preoperative diagnosis. No reliable predictive marker was found to allow for organ- or parenchyma-preserving procedures. Therefore, surgery remains the treatment of choice to exclude malignancy.
