Summary - An analysis of lipases released during hatching of Meloidogyne incognila and Globodera rOSlOchiensls showed that hatching of M. incognila was accompanied by considerable lipase activity which correlated with the percentage hatch. By contrast, no lipase activity was detected during the hatching of G. rostochiensis. The protein substrates azocasein and azocoll revealed marked enzymic activity during hatching of M. incognila. The presence of leucine aminopeptidase could not be correlated with the hatching of either species. The results are discussed in the context of the contrasting hatching mechanisms of the twO species.
