Rabies neutralizing substance appears to be IgG type of antibody not unlike that found in the serum, which could well be its source. Although neutralizing substance with an affinity for rabies virus was found only in the brains of animals that apparently recovered from the infection, components serologically and electrophoretically identical to serum proteins were present in the brains of animals that died of rabies as well. These components were not observed in the brains of normal or hyperimmunized animals.
