Abstract

A 72-yr-old female presented with severe respiratory obstruction due to an infiltrating carcinoma of the thyroid. The patient had been subjected to radioiodine therapy (131I) for thyrotoxicosis 13 yr prior to her present illness. The possible role of the 131I therapy in the development of the thyroid tumor is discussed.
