A new technique for merging multispectral and panchromatic data is proposed. The technique is based on extracting constant grey levels of high resolution panchromatic data within the pixel size of the multispectral data. Spectral signatures are retrieved for these grey levels, generating a new synthetic merged image. The result reveals sub-pixel spectral variations, which are associated with grey level variations in the panchromatic band.
