THE EMISSION SPECTRUM OF ALUMINUM MONOFLUORIDE I

Abstract

Two band systems of the emission spectrum of AlF are described, viz. the far ultraviolet A 1 Π − X 1 Σ system discovered by Rochester in absorption, and a new system due to a 1 Σ − A 1 Π transition in the region 8175 Å–6670 Å. A revised vibrational analysis of the A 1 Π − X 1 Σ system is given as well as the vibrational and rotational analyses of the new system, which is the C 1 Σ − A 1 Π system of AlF.
