ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Cyclopentylidene ketals, moderately more acid-labile than their isopropylidene analogs, offer an alternative to the latter blocking groups. They have been shown to resist a large variety of reaction conditions commonly encountered in carbohydrate chemistry.
