In this paper, the authors develop a new design method of the reference trajectory for hard disk drives. The control input is assumed to be generated through zero-order-hold and the reference trajectory is designed so that the frequency component of the control input is minimized over the desired frequency points. Input constraints can also be incorporated into the design. Simulation results are shown to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
